When You Grow, You Glow

Hey friends, I’m Jo. If you met me in a party you wouldn’t have me down as being particularly confident. I’m not the loudest, in fact people often think I am pretty shy until they get to know me. I let other people drive the conversations and to be honest I’d probably be the one sitting on the floor talking to the dog or cat. I don’t often wear ‘statement’ outfits, I don’t particularly need to be noticed, I’m probably happy playing with the dog, but if you could jump inside my thoughts for a while you would notice that I’m actually quietly confident. I’m not comparing myself to other women, although I will definitely admire their perfect nails or beautiful jewellery, and I’ll tell them that too. I don’t get nervous if a handsome man comes to speak with me and I don’t worry about what other people are thinking about me (the reason? other people’s opinions are actually nothing to do with me!). So how do I manage to feel so quietly confident without faking it? The answer is I work on my mindset.

What is mindset? Well it is the beliefs you have about yourself and the thoughts that you allow yourself to think. I say allow because it is a choice. Your thoughts are really the only thing in life that you have control over.

Confidence is an important quality that can positively impact all areas of life. It can help individuals to make better decisions, take risks, and achieve their goals. However, studies have shown that women tend to have lower levels of confidence compared to men. This can be attributed to a number of factors, including societal expectations, cultural norms, and personal experiences.

Of course confidence will naturally be higher or lower at certain times, nobody can be confident all the time. I’m certainly not confident when I pop to the shops wearing no make-up and a pair of fluffy cat socks with my three quarter leggings, but aside from a poor choice in socks, having chronically low levels of confidence can hold women back from achieving their goals.

How does low confidence affect women?

Career advancement: Women with low confidence may be less likely to pursue leadership roles, negotiate for higher salaries, or charge what they are worth in business.

Relationships: Low confidence can impact personal relationships by causing women to doubt their worth and stay in relationships where they are not valued.

Mental health: Low confidence can contribute to depression and anxiety, which can impact overall mental health.

Isolation: Social situations like meeting friends, work engagements, networking and mums’ groups can feel too overwhelming for women with low confidence, leading to isolation.

It is my mission to help women to feel beautiful, brave and bold, and as a Rapid Transformational Therapist (RTT) I use hypnotherapy as one of my tools.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to access the subconscious mind and make positive changes in behaviour, thought patterns, and emotions. Hypnotherapy can be an effective way for women to improve their confidence by addressing underlying issues that may be contributing to low self-esteem.

Here are some ways that hypnotherapy can help improve confidence for women:

Addressing negative self-talk: Hypnotherapy can help women identify and change negative self-talk patterns that contribute to low self-esteem. By accessing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can help women reframe negative thoughts into positive ones.

Building self-belief: Hypnotherapy can help women visualize success and build self-belief. By using positive affirmations and visualization techniques, hypnotherapy can help women see themselves as confident and capable.

Overcoming past experiences: Hypnotherapy can help women overcome negative experiences that may be contributing to low confidence. With treatment women can process and release negative emotions associated with past experiences.

Reducing anxiety and stress: Hypnotherapy can help women reduce overall anxiety and stress. By accessing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can help women learn relaxation techniques and coping strategies to manage anxiety and stress.

Tips to increase confidence and going from low to glow.

Challenge negative self-talk: Recognise negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations.

Set realistic goals: Setting achievable goals can help build confidence by providing a sense of accomplishment.

Surround oneself with positive influences: Surrounding oneself with supportive and positive people can boost confidence.

Celebrate successes: Celebrating even small successes can build confidence and provide motivation to continue striving towards goals.

Use hypnotherapy to go straight to the subconscious mind and help you to really believe in yourself.
